Classical Chair Yoga

Classical Chair Yoga is unlike any other senior yoga program. Our unique 45-minute chair yoga class features a flowing yoga and ballet fusion set entirely to stimulating music. We focus on breath, posture, meditation, flexibility, movement and stress relief. We offer the class throughout the day allowing participants to start or end their day feeling positive, refreshed and energized.

What makes this class unique:

  • It is set to beautiful music (improving cognitive stimulation and awareness).
  • It fuses the flowing quality of dance-like movement with the tranquility of yoga.
  • It is easy to follow yet offers challenging sequences to keep it fun and fresh.
  • It can be done from a chair so all fitness levels can safely enjoy.
  • Some classes incorporate props to add a stimulating sensory component.

Primary Instructor:

IMG_3501 (1)Kate Stewart started practicing yoga in 2013, while training for her first half marathon. Over time, through a committed and ongoing practice, she discovered that yoga has the potential to provide many powerful gifts that benefit mind, body, and spirit. Kate’s passion is working with students to connect with these gifts and develop tools in the service of self-discovery, radical self-love, and personal empowerment. Kate seeks to break down stereotypes about yoga and make it accessible for all bodies though a compassionate and welcoming approach that encourages the modification of practice to meet every student’s physical, cognitive, and emotional needs. Kate especially enjoys working with seniors and adapting yoga practice to make it accessible for all, regardless of physical and cognitive limitations. Kate has an MA in Counseling and is an RYT-200 and Yoga for All Certified Instructor.
